Class/Workshop Description

Instructor: Maxwell Stein Join me for an engaging and hands-on course to enhance your spinning skills with supported spindles. This workshop will cover essential spindle techniques and topics including proper handling, worsted/woollen drafting, methods to achieve a consistent and enjoyable yarn, cop building, plying, fiber preparation, weight and spindle balance, creating thick and also thin singles. We’ll start with an overview of the tools, followed by guided practice sessions where you'll learn to balance and control your spindle, draft fiber effectively, and troubleshoot common challenges. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced and looking to refine your technique, this course will provide valuable insights and practical skills to elevate your spinning craft. Each participant will leave with a deeper understanding of traditional spindle spinning methods. Workshop costs include the use of a supported spindle for the duration of the class and appropriate fibre. Skill Level: students should have basic spinning knowledge, but do not need to have experience spinning with a supported spindle. Date: May 25th, 2025 Time: 1 to 5pm Register by May 11, 2025 Member cost $90. Non-member cost $100

Cancellation Policy

We acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may arise; regrettably, we cannot provide refunds for our classes and workshops because of our small class sizes and pre-purchased materials. ​ If you are unable to attend a class, you may transfer your spot to another person. If you are unable to find a replacement, please contact registration (link to registration email) as we may have a waitlist and might be able to help you. If the class/workshop is cancelled due to instructor illness, low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances you will be entitled to a full refund.
